From infrastructure and manufacturing right through to packaging
At LQ we firmly believe that even small but consistent steps can make a difference to sustainability and it is achievable when the right framework conditions are created. This philosophy doesn't just apply to our manufacturing: it is also an integral part of our infrastructure.
We generate part of the electricity we need ourselves using our solar panels and thus benefit from a renewable and environmentally friendly source of energy. Our company vehicles are primarily electric, which allow us to reduce emissions and protect the environment. We use water dispensers instead of single use bottles to avoid plastic waste and conserve resources.
In manufacturing, too, we make a conscious decision to be sustainable in how we use raw materials. Pieces of cables, metal parts and aluminium waste are collected in boxes and delivered to our waste disposal contractor already sorted. We thus ensure that everything that can be recycled is used in a sensible way. It is particularly relevant that our manufacturing is already 98% digital, which allows us to reduce the use of paper in all production processes.
Sustainable production also requires waste and reusable materials to be correctly sorted, recycled and disposed of. With our logistics we aim to recycle all material sensibly or to put it back into circulation. This involves collecting and reusing filling material. We send packaging material such as large pieces of sheeting back to our suppliers in returnable boxes so that this can be reused. We reuse disposable pallets with the IPPC logo for consignments to our customers rather than just throwing them out. Broken euro pallets are collected and exchanged for repaired pallets and the use of plastic sheeting is reduced and replaced by reusable boxes.
These measures seen individually may seem trivial but they help to achieve greater sustainability in our day-to-day work.
